Absolutely positive daily balance by Franz Wittmann/Bernhard Ettel at the "SATA Azores Rally" in Portugal

Brit Kris Meeke leads at the IRC-run in front of Nicolas Voillouz (F) and Jan Kopecky (CZ)

After day two of the the IRC-series "SATA Azores Rally" the duo Franz Wittmann/Bernhard Ettel in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX are in tenth overall place and therefore second-best Non-S2000-car.

On the remaining special stages of today the Interwetten Racing driver twice finished in eleventh place. The last SS had to be stopped due to a rollover of Finnish driver Hanninen but was continued after a longer break. There Wittmann eventually reached excellent eighth-best time overall.

Therefore Wittmann/Ettel can draw a definitely positive daily balance: "We had planned to take up this difficult gravel rally rather cautiously which indeed has payed off so far. Our highlights today were sixth-best time on SS 6 and eighth-best time on SS 10. We are quite content with tenth intermediate place but hope to move up some more tomorrow. For weather forecasts predict rain on the last day on the Azores-isle - which would create a surface that would indeed suit us."
