WATT FAMILY OUT IN FORCE IN STANNIC FLEET MANAGEMENT RALLY
The Stannic Fleet Management Rally, round six of the Stannic National Rally Championship, on August 14 and 15 will turn into a family affair for the well known Watt clan.
Jackie Watt, with father Dave and brother Wayne regular Class N1 competitors in a Toyota Conquest this season, will be deputising for championship leader Allen Worms in an Opel Corsa. Worms will be on honeymoon during the Stannic Fleet Management Rally, with Watt teaming up with Ashley Gericke.
Benoni born Jackie is no stranger to rallying - either as a navigator or driver. Along with Beth Grobbelaar and Evan Schreiber - who will be preparing the Opel Corsa - she has competed at regional and national level.
"I was born into a motorsport environment and most of my working life has been spent in the motorsport field," said Jackie. "I am grateful to Allen for the opportunity to drive the car on this event, and am looking forward to it. "Competing in the same class as my Dad and brother Wayne means there will be a little needle in the family for a day or two, and Ashley and I would love to beat them."
Jackie is also hoping to compete on a regular basis in the 1999 Stannic National Rally Championship. "I am looking around for a car for next year," she said, "but a great deal depends on sponsorship and availability of funds.
"I am hoping it all falls into place and am grateful for the support I am getting from both my Dad and from Wayne."
