The waiting time for Franz Wittmann/ Klaus Wicha in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) has been shortened
Due to the cancellation of the Rally Asturias the Interwetten duo will take part in the 34th Rally Canaris at the end of April
An important test for this will already take place from next Friday on at the Rallye Vogelsberg, the 2nd run to the German National Rally Championship
Following the well-received performance of Franz Wittmann/ Klaus Wicha at the Rally Monte Carlo in January it had been planned to only compete in June at the next IRC run in Sardinia.
Now this break of over four month has been shortened. The organisers of the Rally Asturias in September had to cancel their IRC run. So the IRC organisation in connection with Eurosport quickly changed plans and added the Rally Canarias on the island of Grand Canary from April 29 to May 1 to their calendar.
It is a complete tarmac rally that means absolutely unchartered territory for Franz Wittmann: "On the one hand I am sorry for the Asturias since we already know the course from last year. On the other hand it is a completely new challenge which I will gladly meet. From now on my focus is solely on this rally on Grand Canary. Which makes it all the more important to do some testing beforehand. And the Rallye Vogelsberg in Germany this week offers a perfect opportunity for this."
Team Manager Ronald Leschhorn on the testing assignment at the Rallye Vogelsberg: "We definitely won't go for victory from the beginning. We have a lot of testing scheduled, f.i. differential tuning, etc. Only when all of this has been marked off will we take a look at the result lists."
