Killarney & District Motor Club has been granted permission by Motorsport Ireland to run two Reconnaissance Days for the 2000 Gleneagle HotelKillarney Historic Stages Rally. This is an unprecedented allowance for a one-day rally was granted following representations to Motorsport Ireland by the KDMC regarding the layout of this year's Historic Stages.
"Our main consideration when making the application for the second Reconnaissance Day was the safety of competitors. There are seven different stages to make pace notes for, and considering their large geographical spread, the short daylight hours, scrutiny on Saturday evening and the early start on Sunday morning, we thought it proper to look for the second day so that competitors would have a fair chance to complete their pace notes properly," said Gary McCormick, Clerk of the Course.
Reconaissance for the Gleneagle Hotel Killarney Historic Stages Rally will now take place on both Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd. The first car will leave the Start Ramp at 0800 on Sunday, December 3rd.
Killarney & District Motor Club has also announced that KoS Construction will be an associate sponsor of the 2000 Killarney Historic Stages Rally. Peter Kelly, of KoS Construction, noted: "Being a member of Killarney & District Motor Club, I am well aware of the effort that goes into organising the Historic Stages. I have experienced the results of these efforts at first hand, having competed on the event for the past couple of years".
Entries for the Rally close on Friday next, November 17th. Indications are that packed fields will cross the start ramp in all of the Historic, Post-Historic and Classic categories. The top seeds will be revealed next week.
