Robert Kubica tries ralling
F3 Euro Series front runner takes a part in traditional rally event on the streets of Warsaw.
On the first weekend of December Polish Formula 3 driver, Robert Kubica, took part in Barborka Rally -- traditional event held in Warsaw at the end of the rally season. For Kubica it was the first time to sit in a rally car, not to mention competing in a rally. Despite his limited experience (he spent only two hours in a rally car before the event), Kubica was able to grab seventh place among 72 competitors, beating many experienced rally drivers, including 1997 European Rally Champion, Krzysztof Holowczyc.
"It has been a great adventure to start in my first ever rally event and I was really surprised with the outcome. I did not expect to finish ahead of some famous names in this rally although I think we could go much faster. I played it safe and took great care to make sure we don't crash the car. After the rally I was asked several times whether I would like to try rallying but I am focused on my racing career which brings me much more enjoyment and satisfaction. I grew up on racing tracks and that is the place I want to be in."
