Argentinian Marcos Ligato lost only 1.8 seconds in 5 special stages today, Sunday, and ended winning the Corona Rally México by 28 seconds over Peruvian Ramón Ferreyros, 2001 champ.

Ramón won two stages today, Marcos one and Polish Janosz Kulig the other two, which assured him of the third place in the overall classification, 46.1 seconds behind Ramón. 17 drivers started, two abandoned overnight, and the only retirement today came courtesy of Canadian Patrick Richard who was fourth when he had mechanical problems in stage 20, third of this Sunday, and his place was inherited by Costa Rican Andrés Montalto followed by the first Mexican Alejandro Pimentel.

This stage, Derramadero I, meant differential trouble for Ferreyros so he quit pursuing Marcos in order to save his car and podium place. In all, 16 cars finished, the last ona more than 2 and ½ hours behind the winner, but in a 1.6-liter, normally aspirated car.
