FERREYROS FINISHES THIRD IN PARAGUAY

Peruvian driver Ramon Ferreyros ended in third place of Production Class ( N4 ) and fifth overall in the "Rally del Guaira" second of the -- CODASUR 2005 -- Championship which took place in Paraguay. With his Belgian co-driver Pablo Herrero and driving the Subaru Impreza STI, he established a total time of 1 hour 25 minutes and 33 seconds for the eleven special stages that made up the Rally.

Tiago Weiler, who finished in second place, is not participating in the CODASUR Championship , and therefore , the Peruvian drivers final standing is : second in the N4 Class and fourth overall. Next in the calendar, will be in Santa Cruz, Bolivia from May 19 to the 22 .

After sorting out the problems with the shock absorber and a flat tire in yesterdays first leg , the 2004 Champion had to force himself to his maximum so as to make up for precious time lost. Overall winner was local driver Francisco Gorostiaga in the Toyota Corolla WRC of Group A with a total time of 1 hour 20 minutes 07 seconds, followed by the also local drivers , Victor Galeano and Tiago Weiler both in Class N4. Fourth place went to Juan Pablo Raies from Argentina in the Subaru Impreza WRC Group A.

The second place obtained by Ferreyros gives him 18 points and places him third in the N4 Class classification which is, until now, lead by Marcos Ligato and Victor Galeano both with 20 points. The overall championships standings are : Marcos Ligato and Francisco Gorostiaga both with 20 points, Juan Pablo Raies 18, Victor Galeano 15 and Ramon Ferreyros 12, ( he did not participate in the first rally in Argentina ).

"We have made a very big effort to maintain ourselves in the position we ended yesterday. It has been a very difficult Rally specially today ( Sunday ) due to the heavy rain and mud encountered . Many drivers went off the road and it is very good to stand second in our Class and fourth overall of the CODASUR Championship after our first Rally this year. I am very happy with the result and we almost moved up a bit more , but we damaged the exhaust system in a jump, loosing some time. But, this is how Rally`s are," declared Ferreyros afterwards.
