Hadden's test bodes well for Sunseeker.

Essex based rally driver Andrew Haddon took an emphatic class victory and second overall on the Oakington stages rally on Sunday 10th Feb. The Kumho Tyres backed Rallispec team contested the Cambridgeshire airfield event as a tarmac testing session in preparation for the national championship season opener.

In unseasonably dry conditions favouring the weight and braking advantages of more highly developed machinery; Haddon outclassed most of the 76 strong field in his inferior specification Production class Mitsubishi lancer EVO 6.

In 2002 the Rallispec team will contest the full eight round Kumho Tyres National Rally Championship and will compete for honours in the Production Cup and the Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge. The season gets underway on February 23rd in Bournemouth when the team will start at number 23 on the Rallye Sunseeker.

" The car ran beautifully all day and we had clean run with no drama's. This was my first event with new co-driver Mark Andrews. The fact that we can get such a good result despite testing a new car set-up and new Kumho tyres is a real confidence boost." said Haddon.

" We'll do another event at Sweet Lamb in Wales next weekend as a gravel shakedown. After that we'll be able to hit the ground running on the Sunseeker, which has a mixture of tarmac and gravel surfaces. I'm really looking forward to it, there's a strong field and we'll have to try hard, but I reckon we can make an impression on the championship."
