Ste. Croix, Quebec, The S4's of Michael Galati and Derek Bell suffered mechanical problems resulting in a twentieth and twenty-fifth finishing order for the Audi drivers at the Le Grand Prix de Ste. Croix race in Quebec.

The Audi team began their tough weekend with a misfire in both cars. The misfire continued throughout the weekend resulting in reduced track time and the duo's worst qualifying effort of the season, Galati tenth and Bell fourteenth.

The 1.1-mile Quebec circuit made for heavy traffic and several spins resulting in debris coming onto the racing surface. This debris included a tire that was hit by Michael Galati causing a hose to come loose to the turbo of his S4.

The start of the race was promising with both drivers moving up through the field before the misfire reappeared. The misfire caused the S4's to drop out, ending Derek Bell's day seven laps into the 66 lap event and Michael Galati was sidelined 20 laps later.

Michael Galati, Champion Audi/S4 Competition:

"At Sears Point the car began to cut-out at the finish line which created a photo finish with a Porsche. We thought we had it solved coming into Quebec, but it continued.

"In qualifying I was following a Corvette into the chicane when he spun and sent tires onto the track. I hit one of the tires which knocked a hose loose on the turbo and ended our session early. Even with the car not running properly we were able to qualify tenth.

"At the start I was able to get a good jump and went from tenth to fifth by the first corner, then the car lost power. I was able to continue, running as high as sixth with a misfiring car. Then just short of the halfway point the car just quite."

Rod Bymaster, manager, Audi Sport North America:

"It was a frustrating weekend. The team was working hard to get the little problems solved. We know what needs to be done and we will be ready for Texas next month."
