Rain Cancels Qualifying; Auberlen Starting From 2nd Row

Sebring Raceway, FL - 03/17/2005 - Bill Auberlen will start from third place in the #1 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW 325i for Friday's SPEED Channel Touring Car race at Sebring Raceway in Florida. The Thursday qualifying session was unfortunately rained out. His second-row starting position was the result of his fastest time in Wednesday's practice sessions.

Auberlen's time of 2:22.2 was the third-quickest time out of the 33 entered cars and close to a second faster than his pole-winning time from 2004. Only the Tri Point Mazda teammates of Jeff Altenburg and Randy Pobst were faster around the 3.7-mile Sebring road course. With Sebring being Auberlen's favorite track, and benefiting from his immense experience here, a qualifying session in the rain might have resulted in his third-straight pole position.

Tomorrow, Auberlen will be aiming for this third-straight Sebring victory behind the wheel of a Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW. With Turner Motorsport in the pits are StopTech Brakes, B&M Racing, Borla Exhaust, Red Line Oil, Sunoco Race Fuels, Pagid Brake Pads, and Motul Brake Fluids.

The weather forecast for Friday is partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-70s. The standing start will take place at 11:45am ET for 50 minutes of edge-of-adhesion Touring Car racing. The SPEED Channel, the series' main sponsor, will broadcast this race in a week's time on March 27 at 1:00pm ET. Fans can also follow the race via Live Timing & Scoring on the event's website, http://www.world-challenge.com/2005/events/seb/livetiming.html.
