Time To Race!
It's time to race! The 2008 SPEED World Challenge GT series begins this week in Sebring, FL and Randy is ready to defend his 2007 GT championship with another stellar year. Randy is returning to his K-PAX Racing Porsche 911 GT3, but this year with the #1 which is given to the defending champion. Also returning is teammate and good friend Michael Galati who will race the #23.
"It is terrific to be back with the K-PAX team and the World Challenge GT series. I have decided to focus on KPAX and not race in the touring class for this season. While I miss the touring class and the track time, it is a much more relaxed environment to be racing one car instead of being a jack-of-all-trades".
Proving that practice makes perfect, Randy will start the race in second position, based on combined practice results from Wednesday, after the qualifying session was canceled due to a Corvette engine blow-up and fire on the front straight during the first lap. Randy had two very successful practice sessions, placing second with the fastest lap time of 2:10.712 and the fastest speed of 101.903. Brandon Davis, in a Ford Mustang Cobra, has the pole.
"It was very frustrating that qualifying was canceled. You are all ready to go and then it doesn't happen. I think this has worked out well for us though. The Porsche is handling great although we are down on power due to rules restrictions. We have a great starting position and I am looking forward to the race".
The SPEED World Challenge GT series race will be held Friday, March 13 at 4:40 PM EST and can be seen on SPEED March 21 at 1:00 PM EST. If you can't wait until then, you can watch live timing and scoring throughout the race at SCCA.com SPEED GT Pit Board.
