ANGELELLI FAST IN RETURN, LEADS SPEED GT PRACTICE AT ROAD ATLANTA

BRASELTON, Ga. (April 15, 2005) -- Italian Max "The Ax" Angelelli was away from the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT Championship for two races, but made his return known by topping the practice charts for Sunday's sportsbook.com Grand Prix of Atlanta race at Road Atlanta.

Driving the No. 12 XM/Mobil 1/Motorola/Bose/On Star Cadillac CTS-V, the defending race and pole winner turned a fastest time of 1:28.616 (103.186 mph) in the afternoon session, topping Robin Liddell's morning session time.

"I had new tires [in the afternoon session] and I was probably the only one, except for maybe [Robin] Liddell," Angelelli, who is racing for Team Cadillac on a limited basis, said. "When you have new tires, it is easy to be fast!

"I'm very happy to be back this weekend for Team Cadillac. I want to, you know, give my support for the Championship and help the drivers get points."

Liddell bettered his quick time from the morning in the closing moments of the 20-minute afternoon session, clocking a 1:28.726 (103.058 mph) in the No. 66 AXA Financial Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

For the first time in his five SPEED GT races, Wolf Henzler (No. 55 Applied Materials/Jongbloed Racing Wheels Porsche 911 GT3 Cup) did not lead practice, but was third quick with a fastest time of 1:28.871 (102.890 mph). Point leader Tommy Archer (No. 1 c3controls/3R-Racing Dodge Viper) was fourth fastest with a 1:28.968 (102.778 mph), followed by Leighton Reese's Banner Engineering Chevrolet Corvette C6, with a 1:29.003 (102.738 mph).

Qualifying for Sunday's Round Three race is set to begin Saturday at 11:25 a.m. (EDT). Live Timing & Scoring for all sessions is available through www.world-challenge.com.
