SPORTS CAR CLUB OF AMERICA SERIES DODGE DRIVERS TO COMPETE AT HISTORIC ROAD AMERICA THIS WEEKEND
ELKHART LAKE, Wisconsin. (August 16, 2006) -- Dodge Motorsports takes to the legendary Road America this weekend with 11 Dodge drivers behind the wheel of their Vipers and SRT4s in both the Touring Car and GT series competition.
Bob Woodhouse of Blair, NE and Tommy Archer of Duluth, MN will headline the entry list for the Speed World Challenge GT series as they race on what they consider to be their home tracks. Woodhouse will drive the No. 13 Woodhouse Auto Family/ Kicker/ Dodge Viper and Archer will be behind the wheel of the No. 5 C3 Controls/Autohaus Motorsports Dodge Viper, looking to regain momentum after a few rough races this season.
"It's been a tough season all together. I'm not used to it. After coming off 2004 winning the championship and then 2005 coming in second with hardly any troubles in the races, and then you come into this year and I've had three races with troubles, it's a little bit disconcerting." said Archer. "But I'm thankful to our sponsors C3 Controls for sticking with us during a tough season. As a racer you just (have to) get back up on the horse and ride. We're looking to Road America to do that and regain our momentum."
Woodhouse looks to Road America to continue the momentum of his season, which has been a pretty strong one so far.
"The No. 13 Woodhouse Auto Family/Kicker/Dodge Viper Competition Coupe has been very consistent this year with one 11th place finish marring a perfect top-10 report card," Woodhouse said. "We see no reason to be denied, this is a track we love and with the two cars we love and have prepared well, we see our chances as very good."
Other Dodge Motorsports drivers competing in the GT series race include Rob Foster of Phoenix, AZ, Lenny Diller of Garden City, NY, Michael Hartley of Cherry Hill, NJ, Michael McCann of North Canton, OH, Jim McCann Jr. of Canton, OH and rookie Skip Sauls of Longmont, CO.
Mike McCann is the lead Dodge driver in the GT series points championship, fifth in the standings, and will look to gain ground on the leaders this weekend. He is just seven points out of the fourth position.
The Touring Car series drivers will compete at Road America as well, pulling back-to-back weekends of racing after the GP of Denver. Dodge SRT4 drivers Rob Holland of Denver, CO., Dan Aweida of Boulder, Co. and Brian Smith of Simpsonville, SC will carry the banner for Dodge in the Touring Car series competition.
