Some more big news for the ever-growing Pirelli World Challenge series.
Pirelli World Challenge CEO Scott Bove has confirmed to Motorsport.com some exciting news regarding the PWC and their plans to spread their series into the international market.
In my one-on-one with Bove, he told this reporter, "We are working on some new ventures that have an international flair. We will be announcing that within the next couple of months. I see a more global influence. About 20% of our viewership online comes from outside the US, so we definitely plan on expanding and building on that."
On behalf of the PWC, he confirmed to Motorsport.com today that the top three drivers and teams will get the opportunity to compete in the Blancpain Sprint Series season finale in Baku. The event takes place from Oct. 24th to Oct. 25th and each participating team will need two drivers per car, something they are not accustomed to in the sprint-race format of the PWC.
Bove described it as a great way to get PWC into the international spotlight as their popularity inside North America continues to be on the rise. If this trip wasn't enough of an incentive, Motorsport.com was also told that they will cover all travel expenses for the three GT3-spec teams heading over to Azerbaijan.
