MOSPORT INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY (5-21-00) -- Veteran driver Bill Cooper, in the No.01 Les Stanford Chevrolet sponsored Pirate Racing C5 Corvette, was the highest finishing Corvette with a 6th place in the Round #2 Speedvision World Challenge GT race held here on May 21.

Cooper, the winner of April's Round #1 race at Lowe's Motor Speedway at Concord, NC., still leads the World GT 2000 Driver's Championship with 54 points, followed by Peter Cunningham in the No.42 BMW M3.

Several of the Corvette teams suffered from accidents and mechanical problems during the race; Scotty White debuted his new DRMC500R; and Cooper ran his '99 Stanford kit car. The Porsche, Viper, BMW M3, and the new Audi S4 ran with significant aerodynamic rear and front wings which gave them an advantage over the Corvettes in the Mosport turns. The 2000 SCCA ProRacing season is the second full Speedvision World Challenge season for the Dearborn, Michigan's Les Stanford Chevrolet as the sponsor for the Pirate Racing Corvette with Cooper behind the wheel.

Aside from Stanford's primary sponsorship, the Pirate Racing Corvette is sponsored by GMAC, Burtronic Business Systems, The Dart Lady, The Plumbing Warehouse, and NAPA.

Speedvision will broadcast this tape-delayed Mosport race on Saturday, June 10th, at 8 p.m.
