Farmer'S Corvette leads Speed GT practice.

CANADA (May 17, 2002) -- David Farmer, of Albemarle, N.C., topped the practice sheets for this weekend's SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge GT Championship Round Two Race, part of the Ontario Presents Victoria Day Trans-Am Weekend at Mosport International Raceway. Peter Cunningham, of W. Bend, Wis., and Michael Galati, of N. Olmstead, Ohio completed the top three.

Driving the No. 35 Metric Chemical Chevrolet Corvette ZO6, Farmer turned a lap of 1:29.478 (98.933 mph) around the 2.459-mile track in the second of two practice sessions. It marks the first time in recent memory that the blue bowtie contingent has been on top heading into Woody's Ice Qualifying, to be held Saturday morning.

Cunningham, who holds the qualifying track record at a 1:28.690 (99.812 mph), was second in the RealTime Racing Acura NSX SC with a lap of 1:29.515. Defending Series Champion Galati, driving the Champion Racing Audi S4 Competition, turned a lap of 1:30.119.

Johannes van Overbeek, of Danville, Calif., and Jeff McMillin, of Erie, Pa., completed the top five.
