Miller Takes Advantage Of Rainy Conditions In Round 8 Of The SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship To Win Piloti Rookie Of The Race Honors

Fremont, CA, Sept 4 / After a last-minute scramble to reach the track that resulted from a 12 hour delay while crossing the Canadian border, team owner/driver Christian Miller piloted his Merlin Motorsports/034Motorsport VW Jetta through a rain-soaked field at Mosport to finish in a career-high 6th place, garnering the Piloti Rookie Of The Race award.

"After limited practice sessions due to our late arrival, I was really pleased to be holding 4th place in qualifying until the track dried out in the final minutes and I got bumped to 10th," Miller said. It is a true testament to the efforts of our team and the capabilities of the VW Jetta that I crossed the line in 6th place at the end of the race. You can not imagine how it feels to finish ahead of some guys whose posters have hung on my wall for years."

"The rainy conditions really leveled the playing field," Miller continued. "The Merlin Motorsports/034Motorsport Jetta still has intermittent wipers and I noticed during the final laps that the rain was lessening but the cars around me weren't picking up the pace. I knew that this was my opportunity, so I just put my head down and drove my race. I think this result shows how good a platform the VW Jetta really is."

Christian Miller's campaign for Rookie Of The Year honors in the ultra-competitive SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship continues on September 30th at world-famous Road Atlanta at the ALMS Petit Le Mans.
