MINNEAPOLIS EXTENDS TRANS-AM CONTRACT The Minneapolis City Council has approved a contract extension for the promoters of the Children's Grand Prix of Minnesota after this year's Trans-Am event and support races turned out to make a favorable impression on some skeptical council members. This year's races raised some $200,000 for the Cancer for Kids Fund of Children's Health Care in Minneapolis. In addition to proceeds from the race, Trans-Am drivers Jim Derhaag, Jamie Galles and Eric van de Poele also donated the special award money they won over the July 6-7 event. World Challenge driver David Rosenblum also donated a portion of the money his team earned that weekend. From "On Track - The Auto Racing Magazine of Record", September 19, 1996.
