Pobst, Esayian and Mosing Lead Morning Warm-Up At Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio - Randy Pobst was quickest in this morning's morning warm-up for this afternoon's World Challenge Championships Round Nine race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the Optima Batteries Mid-Ohio Grand Prix presented by GameStreamer. Nick Esayian posted the fastest GTS time, while Jeff Mosing topped Touring Car.

Nick Esayian was quickest in GTS morning warm-up.

Pobst topped the GT session with a best time of 1:27.221 (93.198 mph) in the No. 6 K-Pax Racing Volvo S60. Esayian completed the 13-turn, 2.258-mile circuit in a time of 1:35.180 (85.404 mph) in the No. 34 Acura/RealTime Racing Acura TSX, with Mosing posting a best time of 1:38.610 (82.434 mph) in the No. 08 Frank's International Mazda RX-8.

The 20-minute warm-up session was originally listed as qualifying on the schedule, but because of the shorter than usual time period, was changed to a warm-up and this afternoon's grid was set by Friday's qualifying.

James Sofronas' No. 14 GMG Porsche 911 GT3 will start on the pole for GT, with Peter Cunningham starting first in GTS in the No. 43 Acura/RealTime Racing Acura TSX and Jason Saini's No. 03 Team MER/Sparco/SafeRacer MAZDASPEED3 on the Touring Car pole.

The lights go out for the standing start at Mid-Ohio on the 40-car World Challenge Championships at 11:25 a.m. EDT.
