3R Racing Takes Points Lead to Mid-Ohio

Englewood, Colorado - 3R Racing is taking the SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge GT series points lead to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for round four to be run on Saturday, May 21st. Tommy Archer leads the series driver's points with teammate Phil McClure in fourth and team owner/driver Tim Wiens in seventh.

The team has been able take some much needed time to meticulously prepare the three 3R Racing Vipers for Mid-Ohio. The first three races on the schedule all came within six-weeks of one another leaving little time for preparation and travel. Last year at the 2.25-mile, 13-turn road course, Archer came home fourth with Wiens and McClure having engine trouble and finishing 28th and 31st.

Tommy Archer, driver of the number 1/c3controls/3R Viper, still maintains the overall driver's points lead in the series based upon his two wins at Sebring and St. Petersburg as well as his fourth place finish at Road Atlanta. "The other teams are getting their cars up to speed after three races. The 100 lbs. we were able to take off won't hurt, but Mid-Ohio is not a great track for the Viper. It should favor a more nimble car. Mid-Ohio is a well balanced track and it requires a well balanced car. I will focus the setup on where we seem to be losing time being sure not to compromise the rest."

Phil McClure, driving the number 2/FirstTier Bank/3R Viper, has moved up one position from sixth to fifth place in the driver's standings. "Mid-Ohio has been tough for me, in the last two races I completed about two laps. The track should be challenging for the Viper. The layout is technical and that usually favors a smaller lighter car. Cadillac and Porsche should be the cars we will be chasing again next weekend. I am looking for a top five finish and points for the end of the season."

Tim Wiens started from the eighth row and brought the number 3/FirstTier Bank/3R Viper. "Last year at Mid-Ohio I had an engine let go in spectacular fashion about half-way into the race. Phil had some problems last year as well. As a team that was our worst overall outing of 2004. We are looking for a little redemption this year as we have had great reliability and preparation for the first three races. Mid-Ohio and its 13-turns require a lot of stopping and accelerating, with our added weight that is really going to affect our overall performance."

Round four of the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge GT series will be run on Saturday, May 21st. The race will be televised on Speed Channel on May 28th at 4:00 p.m. EST.

3R Racing Viper Competition Coupe weight and restrictions for Mid-Ohio:
- Base weight 3,200 lbs., minus 100 lbs. since Road Atlanta
- 50% air restrictor
- Archer R.E.W.A.R.D.S. weight is at 180 lbs.

3R Racing would like to thank sponsors c3controls, Sirius Satellite Radio, FirsTier Bank and partners Red Line Oil, Performance Friction brake pads, Ron Davis radiators and Dodge Motorsport.
