TMS Driver Leads Championship After Round One

LIME ROCK PARK, CT, USA - 05/28/2004 - Practice gets underway today at Lime Rock Park for Round 2 of the SPEED Touring Car Championship. All three Turner Motorsport pilots are in the top ten in points heading into this weekend. Bill Auberlen, driving a Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs/BMW of Watertown BMW 325i is currently leading the Championship. Justin Marks and Dino Crescentini are fifth and ninth, respectively, in the standings. Auberlen is coming off a win in the last round at Sebring Raceway in Florida.

Justin Marks, a talented young driver with lots of SPEED World Challenge experience, occupies fifth place in the standings after his top-five finish at Sebring. Marks was fast at Sebring in his Turner Motorsport BMW and spent much of the race in a battle at the front with multiple other cars. Marks has done well at Lime Rock in the past; last year he scored two top five finishes here in a BMW M3.

Justin Marks, car #2: "At Sebring, I thought the field would have spread out more. But the SPEED Touring Car series is so competitive and tightly matched that there were 3 different models in the top five alone. Lime Rock will be even closer packed with 41 cars entered but I plan on being out ahead of all of them."

Dino Crescentini is currently in ninth in the overall standings, however, the Californian leads the Rookie of the Year contest. Although he struggled a bit with the standing start at Sebring, Dino improved on his qualifying position during the race to finish inside the top ten in his first-ever Touring Car race.

Practice sessions will be on Friday with Qualifying on Saturday at 3:45pm. The 50-minute race will be on Monday at 2:10pm. Lime Rock Park is Turner Motorsport's home event with many customers and fans attending. Turner Motorsport welcomes everybody to their paddock to meet the drivers, take pictures, or chat with a Turner Motorsport crewmember.

This race will be broadcast LIVE on HD Net on Monday. See the HD Net website at www.hd.net/watch_at_home.html to check on availability. The Speed Channel will begin broadcasts of the Lime Rock event on Sunday, June 6 at 12:00pm. Stay tuned for updates throughout the weekend.
