Lime Rock tough on Audi.

Lakeville, Conn. - The traditional Memorial Day race weekend at Lime Rock Park proved to be tough on the Champion Audi S4 team. Michael Galati, driving the number one Champion Audi/Audi S4 Competition, finished sixth and teammate Derek Bell, driving the number eight Legends of Motorsport Audi S4 Competition, finished eleventh.

From the drop of the flag Galati moved up to second from his third place qualifying position. Following pole sitter Randy Pobst in his 911 for the first third of race when the power steering pump began to fail. "I was running in second when the steering became very hard. The tight Lime Rock circuit is difficult to drive without the power steering. I fell back to around mid-pack until I was able to catch back up to sixth place. The long corners take a toll on you without the ease of power steering," said Galati.

Derek Bell, qualified eighth and was running comfortably in the top ten when he tangled with the Corvette of David Farmer in turn three and went off the track causing him to lose several positions. Bell soon recovered and was able to bring his Audi S4 home in eleventh position.

"We had a tough weekend, Michael had an unfortunate car problem with the power steering and Derek came together with a Corvette. We have Mid-Ohio and Road America coming up next where the S4 should really be able to run strong," said Rod Bymaster, manager Audi Sport.

The Lime Rock race will air on the Speed Channel on June 8 at 9:00 p.m.
