Denver, CO - WC Vision announced today further details of the new Pirelli World Challenge GT-A driver classification starting for the 2014 season. The GT-A classification will acknowledge the gentleman sportscar driver that races in the series' GT class.

Starting next season, the GT-A driver that accumulates the most points at the end of the season will be awarded the GT-A Championship and the inaugural Sportsman Cup presented by B.R.M Chronographes. Along with the cup, a B.R.M championship chronograph will go to the champion.

To be considered for the class, a driver must generally be considered a gentleman sportscar driver and must not make their primary living as a race car driver or have won a professional racing championship. Drivers who have won non-professional racing championships or have won a professional championship as a co-driver will qualify for the GT-A class.

"Over the last few years the competitive bar has continued to rise in our GT class, and in 2014 it will be even higher," said Pirelli World Challenge Competition Director, Geoff Carter. "With that in mind, we wanted to be able to recognize and reward the talented gentlemen drivers that will run in the GT class starting in 2014. The GT-A classification and the awarding of the B.R.M Sportsman Cup and chronograph achieves that."

"I am really excited to be joining the GT-A class in 2014," said Michael Mills, EFFORT Racing Porsche GT3 R Driver. "Racing in the Pirelli World Challenge has been a goal of mine since the beginning of my racing career in 2004. EFFORT Racing has taken a big step this year with the Porsche GT3 R. I'm looking forward to representing EFFORT and Porsche in this extraordinary race series. A highlight in 2014 will be to see Tim Bergmeister in the car this year as a teammate."
