Grand Sport Racing will give Corvette fans a chance to race during the Mosport Victoria Day Weekend event, May 18-20. Grand Sport Racing has recreated the Mosport track configuration in an HO scale slot car track. The slot cars are Corvette C5's painted to match Grand Sport's Speedvision World Challenge C5's.
Each day of the event, Grand Sport Racing will host the Hobby Craft Slot Car Challenge. The fastest slot car driver from each day will win a Hot Vette slot car set from the Canadian-based Hobby Craft, a leading distributor of action games.
In addition, Hobby Craft will have the very newest in gaming technology for fans to experience. The Venuality Reality Headset allows gamers to experience video games as they've never been played before.
The Hobby Craft Slot Car Challenge is free for all spectators and will be open Friday, Noon-2:00 PM, Saturday, 10:00 AM - Noon, and Sunday, 9:00- 10:30 AM. Speedvision broadcast personalities other SVWC teams will have a chance to tackle the slot car track in a special Radians Grudge Match on Friday evening.
The Hobby Craft Slot Car Challenge is part of the Grand Sport Racing assault on Mosport. 1999 SVWC GT Champion Bobby Archer, is the defending 1999 and 2000 winner at Mosport. He will pilot the #08 KB Enterprises/Grand Sport C5. Bobby Sak, son of Trans Am veteran Don Sak, will continue his rookie season in the #04 A&E Plumbing/Grand Sport C5.
The team has high hopes for Archer's bid. Although he is recently associated with his success in the Viper, Archer has won more races in a Corvette than any other car. His record at Mosport is without comparison. In 14 professional racing starts at Mosport, he has been on the podium 12 times, and has never finished outside of the top-ten.
