CENTENNIAL, Colo. (September 28, 2001)*After consecutive event wins at Portland International Raceway and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Grand Sport Racing clinched the 2001 Speedvision Presentation Award, recognizing the team with the best paddock presence and appearance throughout the season.

Throughout the season, event awards of $500 cash were presented to the team receiving the most votes from a panel comprised mostly of random fans walking through the paddock, interacting with the teams. Points were awarded at each event on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis, with a year-end point fund of $10,000 cash; $6,000 going to first place, $2,500 to second and $1,500 to third.

Grand Sport Racing currently holds a seven-point lead (25 to 17) over Champion Audi Racing, and has three event wins on the season (Sebring, Portland, Mazda Raceway). The battle for second through fourth will come down to the wire at Road Atlanta, with Champion, RealTime Racing and Turner Motorsport all within two points.

"We put a real emphasis on winning the Speedvision Presentation Award this season," said Terry Lackey, Grand Sport Racing Team Manager. "We may not have the biggest budget in the paddock, but everyone on our team has contributed ideas to become more interactive with the fans, and make their World Challenge experience a positive one."

With the cancellation of the Lowe's Motor Speedway finale, SCCA Pro Racing announced that it would expand the purse available at Road Atlanta, with $500 going to first place, $300 to second and $200 to third. The point structure will not change.

Grand Sport Racing, which will field the No. 04 Chevrolet Corvette C5 for Andy Lally in the weekend's two Speedvision GT races at Atlanta, becomes the second winner of the Speedvision Presentation Award. Turner Motorsport was the inaugural recipient in 2000.
