San Diego, Calif.- Michael Galati completed an up-and-down season, finishing in second place in the Speedvision GT series drivers' standings, after an extreme season finale in San Diego.

Following his win in Las Vegas one week ago, Galati qualified his Champion Audi/Audi S4 Competition in fifth position. Not able to get the great start that he has been known for all season, Galati settled into fifth position to run a clean race. After being bumped and banged throughout the race, the car showed both front and rear end damage by the half way point. Following a crash by front runners Bobby Archer and Mike Fitzgerald with two laps remaining, Galati jumped from fourth place in drivers' points to second.

Teammate Derek Bell started in 13th position and had to take an evasive line through the dirt at the start. Suffering brake problems throughout the race, Bell was able to bring the Legends of Motorsport/Audi S4 Competition home in 13th position.

Derek Bell, Legends of Motorsport/Audi S4 Competition: "It was the only place to go. I was afraid to get hit in the rear, so I took to the dirt. I had brake problems develop around lap 10; I had to pump the pedal the rest of the race. I could do nothing but follow people around the rest of the day. The S4 is coming along; I am looking forward to coming back next year."

Michael Galati, Champion Audi/ Audi S4 Competition: "We lost a couple of bumpers but were still able to finish fifth. It was a real street fight. I got mixed up with Bill Cooper and then on the restart, a Corvette spun in front of me, and I had to stop and back up, which put me back to fifth. I was surprised to finish second in the season's points. We came in to the race in fourth place, shooting for third, and ended up second. It's great."

Rod Bymaster, manager, Audi Sport: "We have had a tumultuous year. We had success early and then fell into a little slump with some tuning problems. Michael's second place finish in the drivers' point standings is a remarkable achievement! Couple that with his win in Vegas, and we really have something to build on for next year." <pre> Audi S4 Competition Season: Charlotte Derek Bell qualified 17th and finished 9th Mosport Derek Bell qualified 8th and finished 7th Michael Galati qualified 3rd and finished 2nd Lime Rock Derek Bell qualified 8th and finished 29th Michael Galati qualified 1st and finished 5th Sears Point Derek Bell qualified 8th and finished 5th Michael Galati qualified 3rd and finished 2nd Quebec Derek Bell qualified 14th and finished 25th Michael Galati qualified 10th and finished 20th Texas Derek Bell qualified 17th and finished 24th Michael Galati qualified 13th and finished 11th Atlanta Derek Bell qualified 11th and finished 13th Michael Galati qualified 4th and finished 8th Laguna Seca Derek Bell qualified 6th, finished 6th Michael Galati qualified 2nd, finished 14th Las Vegas Derek Bell qualified 11th, finished 12th Michael Galati qualified 1st, finished 1st San Diego Derek Bell qualified 13th, finished 13th Michael Galati qualified 5th, finished 5th
