STaSIS Finishes 6th at the Grand Prix of Denver

Adam Pecorari Sets Track Record
Jeff Courtney Extends Rookie of the Year Lead

Denver, Colorado (August 13, 2006) In his maiden SPEED World Challenge Touring Car race Adam Pecorari finished 6th and set the track record with a time of 1:21.119. Throughout the race Pecorari challenged for podium position. Having moved up from his 6th place starting position on the grid and in 3rd position during lap five Pecorari made a bold bid for the lead trying to pass two cars at once. He almost pulled it off getting in front of the competitors briefly, but could not make it stick. He had a strong race battling with series veterans to land a 6th place finished. Pecorari was the highest finishing rookie in the race.

After the race the 21-year-old Pecorari said, "It was so much fun out there. Different than the open wheel racing I'm used to, but I loved it. The whole car felt good, but the STaSIS/Alcon brakes were really outstanding today."

Chip Herr had a strong start in his #17 STaSIS Clear Capital Audi A4 powered by the MAHLE Powertrain 1.8 turbo engine. He launched from his 5th on the grid starting position to be side by side battling for the lead in turn one, but was forced into the pits on the first lap after contact in turn two. The car was never the same after that and on lap 18 Herr retired his Audi A4. Despite not finishing the race Herr maintained his 4th place standing in the driver's championship race.

STaSIS rookie Jeff Courtney drove his #99 STaSIS Kenda/MPI Coin/KaravanTrailer Audi A4 from 15th position on the grid to finish 12th. Courtney increased his lead over the second place drivers in the Piloti SPEED Touring Car Rookie of the Year standings.

The SPEED World Challenge Touring Car race at the Grand Prix of Denver will be televised on SPEED TV August 19th at 1:00 PM EDT and August 23rd at 12:00 PM EDT.
