SCCA Court of Appeals denies Champion Racing appeal of Lime Rock Speed GT round four

TOPEKA, Kan. (June 18, 2003) -- The SCCA Court of Appeals (COA) denied Champion Racing's appeal Tuesday regarding the results of the SCCA Speed World Challenge GT Round Four Race from Lime Rock Park.

The appeal was in response to SCCA Pro Racing's decision to not hear Champion Racing's protest of the rear tires used by racewinner Bill Auberlen and teammate Hans Stuck.

The COA hearing determined that SCCA Pro Racing officials acted within the rules in interpreting tire regulations.

"I'd like to thank all parties involved for handling this situation in a very professional manner," said Mitch Wright, SCCA Pro Racing Vice President and General Manager. "This situation has pointed out some inconsistencies in the SCCA Pro Racing rulebook that are being addressed."

Race results are now deemed final with no changes to the provisional results.
