Archer Laps Mopar Viper at Lowe's Motor Speedway

Concord, North Carolina, Mar. 21, 2007 -- Autohaus Motorsports driver Tommy Archer tested his Mopar Viper at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Monday in preparation for the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT race to be run in the heart of NASCAR country on May 24th.

Archer and the Autohaus team had just finished the opening round of the SPEED World Challenge GT Series at Sebring, where he posted an eighth place finish.

The track layout for the World Challenge race will consist of the entire oval with a chicane on the back stretch and one on in the tri-oval.

"The track layout will be fast," Archer explained. "The circuit will definitely favor a car with a big motor and lots of acceleration. The handling of the car will not be that much of a factor as there are really only three places you are slowing down per lap. You may see some different cars running up front that haven't been there in the past."

The two chicanes and high-bank layout of the NASCAR turns will bring some new challenges to the GT field come May."The chicane on the back stretch will really be a challenge," Archer added. "The first couple of laps will witness a huge stacking affect as cars will have to come to a near dead stop to wait their turn to go through, something you usually see on a street course. Overall speed on the high bank will not be that great, I think we actually go faster at Road America."

The next event for the SPEED World Challenge GT Series will be the Long Beach Grand Prix on April 15th.
