Archer and Burtin Join Woodhouse Performance for 2008
LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 18, 2008) - Woodhouse Performance is proud to announce the line-up of Trans-Am and SPEED World Challenge veterans Tommy Archer and Claudio Burtin to drive together for the balance of the 2008 SPEED World Challenge season. Driving the No. 13 Foametix/Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, the duo will join forces with teammate Jeff Courtney in the No. 99 KENDA/MPI-Coin Viper to create a two-car team assault for the SCCA SPEED GT Manufacturers' Championship Presented by RACER.
"Woodhouse Motorsports has one of the best reputations in this form of racing, and it is a true honor to be driving the No. 13 Dodge Viper," said Burtin, who will be driving select races throughout the 2008 season depending on scheduling conflicts. "Long Beach is in many ways a home race for me, and I have to thank Bob [Woodhouse] and everyone at the team for allowing me the opportunity, it's going to be a great season."
With two decades of experience in motorsports, Georgia-native Burtin is joining the team with a reputation as one of the sport's most versatile drivers. Having driven a number of different high-horsepower vehicles from Ford Mustangs to Chevrolet Corvettes in the SCCA Trans-Am series, to most recently competing in a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car in the 2008 Rolex 24 at Daytona, Burtin is known for his ability to consistently and patiently get any vehicle up to pace.
Driving the remaining races in the No. 13 will be series legend Tommy Archer. As the 2004 SCCA SPEED GT Champion, Archer brings a wealth of experience in different vehicles to the table, and most notably joins the team as perhaps the most well known Dodge Viper driver in the series.
"I am very pleased that we will be running a full season with the No. 13," Bob Woodhouse, owner of Woodhouse Performance said. "The wild paint on that car has become well known in the series, so I'm very happy to see it represented well with Tommy and Claudio. Headed into Long Beach, Claudio should be a great asset to the team with all of his experience at the track, not to mention he grew up around that area, so it should be a pretty good weekend."
