Yannick Hofman to zoom-zoom the Jig-A-Loo Mazda from fourth row at GP3R
GP3R, August 18, 2007. -- Yannick Hofman made the best of his first chance to take to the track his #00 Jig-A-L00 Star Mazda single seater, earning a solid 8th place in the qualifying session in his first round at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. The 19-year old driver racing for Andersen Racing is completing his sophomore year in the Formula BMW USA ladder series was quite surprising in the practice sessions, earning 8th and 10th places yesterday.
"My crew at Andersen gave me a quick #00 Jig-A-L00 car, said the rookie. I worked with Marc-Antoine Camirand, a veteran racer who knows this track like very few drivers. This track is quite bumpy for our Mazda rotary machine and I have to be quite smooth in some corners. I want to keep my nose clean at the start of this 36-lap race and nurse my tires and my brakes to the end. I would be happy with a Top 10 in my maiden race but my goal is to take the Jig-A-Loo car to the stripe."
The green flag will drop tomorrow on the GP3R feature race at 1:30 PM, the tenth round of the Star Mazda Championship.
