WHITE SPINS, WINS STAR MAZDA RACE AT ROAD AMERICA

ELKHART LAKE, Wisc. (Aug. 20, 2006) -- Ron White survived an early spin, took the lead on the final lap and won the ninth round of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear. The race was held at Road America.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for Star Mazda racing. That includes the regional and age group classes for the popular open-wheel sanctioning body. The race at Road America had a starting field of 38 cars.

Adrian Carrio, who finished second, led the field when the white flag was displayed. White's margin of victory was just .471 of a second. Pablo Donoso finished third, Gerardo Bonilla was fourth and Mark Wilkins finished fifth.

Carrio set the fastest time in qualifying with an average speed of 117.666 mph.

Bonilla won the Expert class for drivers aged 30-44 and John Faulkner won the Masters class for drivers aged 45 and older. Faulkner finished 10th overall.
