The Viking bags yet another top 5 finish
Road America - August 21st Norwegian racer Anders Krohn started 7th and finished 4th in Round 11 of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, held at the legendary Road America. The 22-year old who races for Andersen Racing, bagged his 11th consecutive top-5 finish and extended his position as second in the championship.
The Houston-resident was fast out of the box by being fastest in the first test session, and followed that up by being fastest once again in Friday morning practice. Things did not go according to plan in qualifying, as Krohn struggled for grip in his #47 Trallfa/Norse Cutting & Abandonment/Colosseum/Mazda race car, and finally wound up 7th.
Krohn had a decent getaway in the race and was able to maintain his position in a first lap scramble. He then worked his way through the field by utilizing mistakes made by others and mechanical gremlins that struck along the course of the race. Crossing the finish line in 4th, Krohn was happy just to finish after the mayhem that occurred in the closing laps.
"For us it was a relatively uneventful race, and we brought the car home across the finish line. The good news is that we are further cementing our place as second in the championship, which takes the pressure off for the final two races of the year. We had a strange weekend, where we were very quick in some of the sessions, and then struggling big time in others. We'll review everything and make sure we have a stronger showing at Mosport next week. Once again I'd like to thank Andersen Racing who have worked relentlessly throughout the season, as well as my partners without whom I would not be here; Trallfa, Norse Cutting & Abandonment, Colosseum, Logi Trans/Offshore Express, Bring Logistics US Inc, SR Transport, ZAT Graphics, Nash Performance, Eagles Canyon Raceway, KNA, Rioja, MotorAkademiet, Bell Racing, OMP Racing, Restart Communications, and Racing For Kids." Ended Krohn, who will be back in Canada next weekend for the penultimate round of this year's championship.
