CARRIO CLAIMS CANADA CHAPTER OF STAR MAZDA CHASE

MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada (June 24, 2006) -- Adam Carrio led every lap and captured the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear race in front of a Formula One crowd on the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for Star Mazda Racing. The Star Mazda program, with its multiple age groups and regions, is among the largest open-wheel sanctioning bodies in North America. There were 42 starters in Montreal.

Carrio led every lap of the race and propelled himself into the lead of the championship race. Matt Varsha, son of former racer and now broadcaster Bob Varsha, finished second. The younger Varsha was 1.482 seconds behind the winner.

Michael Potekhen was third, followed by Logan Gomez and Ron White. Potekhen trails Carrio 189-179 in the chase for the title.

Mark Pavin won the Expert class for drivers aged 30 to 44 and John Faulkner won the Masters class for drivers aged 45 and over.

The Star Mazda race was held on the same weekend and track as the Canadian Grand Prix Formula One race.
