Skip Barber Karting Scholarship Winner and Barber Dodge Pro Series "Big Scholarship" invitee Jason La Point has signed to drive with Star Race Cars in the Formula Mazda Pro Series. Star Race Cars are the factory supported team for that series.

Winning the karting scholarship afforded La Point the opportunity to attend a Skip Barber Three Day Racing School which in turn segued into the Skip Barber Race Series. La Point, from Woodburn, Or., first competed in the 1998-99 Western Race Series finishing the year 14th overall. Later the same year, La Point entered in the Midwestern Race Series and was involved in a heated battle for the title, eventually finishing the season in third-place, just 10 points short of the crown.

La Point backs up his auto racing experience with an impressive list of karting titles including the Superkarts USA World Championship in 125cc shifter karts. He is also ranked as the number one shifter kart driver in the U.S.
