Goshen Motorpsorts Signs 16 Year Old Ryan Booth for 2009 Star Mazda Championship

Goshen Motorsports proudly announces that Ryan Booth has been signed to the team for the 2009 Star Mazda Championship season. He had a successful initial test with Goshen Motorsports on November 14th at Buttonwillow Raceway in preparation for the January Sebring test. In spite of being in the car for only the second time, Ryan recorded some very good times on the first day at Sebring. Unfortunately, on the second day the engine gave out early in the first practice ending Ryan's testing.

Crew Chief Richie Hearn and Engineer Andy Tagg said "Ryan's test at Buttonwillow went very well and he followed that up with a strong showing at Sebring. We feel he will be very competitive in the Pro Star Mazda Series in 2009." They added, "Ryan gets up to speed quickly and is very aggressive." Team owner, Bill Goshen said "I have followed Ryan's career for several years and know he is very competitive when he gets in the car and is an exceptionally nice young man to have in the pits."

Ryan Booth began his racing career in go-karts in Stars of Karting and WKA national events. In 2006, he drove in the Skip Barber Regional Series with a significant number of wins, podiums, fast laps and poles. In 2007, Ryan captured the Championship in the Formula TR Pro Series 1.6 liter class. In 2008, Ryan drove for the Asia Racing Team (ART) in the Formula Asia 2.0 Series with an international field of drivers from China Japan, Indonesia, Macau, Thailand, France, Sweden, Venezuela and the United States. Booth captured his first win in Round 9 at the Bira Circuit in Pattaya, Thailand.

Goshen Motorsports will be running a three car team in 2009, with Billy Goshen driving the #82 car from last year, Ryan Booth behind the wheel of the #83 car and Toshihiro Deki.
