G&W Motorsports Competes in Fourth Race in Five Weeks

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 23, 2004) - G&W Motorsports, based outside of Danville, Va., will compete in its fourth Star Mazda Series race in only five weeks on Saturday at Portland International Raceway. Nineteen-year-old Brian Frisselle (Kihei, Hawaii) will pilot the team's Ventura Travel Services No. 15 Pro Formula Mazda, and 16-year-old Brad Coleman (Houston, Texas) will be at the wheel of the Podium No. 33 Pro Formula Mazda.

Frisselle, son of renowned sports car driver Brad Frisselle, qualified on the front row in round one at Sebring International Raceway earlier this season. He topped the charts during practice last weekend at Infineon Raceway, but struggled with his No. 15 Mazda during the race and was unable to make it onto the podium.

However, this weekend the rookie hopes luck will be on his side as he takes a shot at Victory Lane in his No. 15 car sponsored by Ventura Travel Services, Skip Barber Racing Series, Sparco and Axcel Fast Graphics.

Coleman, the 2003 Fran-Am West Coast champion, is the youngest competitor in the Star Mazda Series this season. After starting from the back of the field last weekend due to a technical issue in qualifying, the rookie was able pass a dozen of his competitors in only the first three laps of the race before being taking out while completing a pass in the carousel. This weekend, Coleman is looking for a cleaner race and strong finish in his Podium No. 33 Pro Formula Mazda of G&W Motorsports.

The Star Mazda Series is part of the American Le Mans Portland Grand Prix weekend. Qualifying for the Star Mazda Series will be held on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. PT, with the 45-minute race getting underway Saturday afternoon at 12:55 p.m. PT.

G&W Motorsports, based at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Va., made its debut into open-wheel racing this season at Sebring International Raceway. After accumulating numerous wins and championships in sports car racing, the team looks to continue its success in the Star Mazda Series with its pair of entries.
