John Andersen and Cape Brothers Join Andersen Racing

FAIRFIELD, N.J., Dec. 26 - A co-owner and two very well-known engineers have been added to the staff of Andersen Racing, the Fairfield, N.J.-based team that will compete in the Indy Pro Series, the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear and the Hankook Tires Formula Ford 2000 series in 2007.

Team owner Dan Andersen announced today that his brother, respected Formula Ford 2000 official John Andersen, has become his co-owner of the racing team. John Andersen has also been Dan Andersen's partner in their very successful New Jersey-based construction businesses since 1974.

In addition, the pair announced that another set of brothers, Dominic and Nicholas Cape of Cape Motorsports, will be engineers for Andersen Racing's entry into the Indy Pro Series in 2007. The Indy Pro Series is the official development series of the Indy Racing League's IndyCar Series.

"We have reached an agreement with the Capes where Dominic will serve as the chief engineer for our Indy Pro Series program, and Nicolas will be the lead mechanic," Dan Andersen said. "My brother John will be the team manager of that whole program."

Andersen Racing hopes to field two cars in the Indy Pro Series in 2007. "When we finalize our plans for the second car, Nicolas will move over to that car to be its chief engineer," John Andersen said.

"I've known the Capes for over 15 years," Dan Andersen added. "They fielded cars in the Formula Ford 2000 series when I was the administrator of it, and I've also raced against them as a team owner. They have had a great deal of success in the sport, including running J.R. Hildebrand this year when he dominated the Cooper Tires F2000 series. John has also worked with them closely for the last five years, since he was the director of race operations for that series. He's observed their methods and style, and we both think they'll be great assets to Andersen Racing. We're impressed with their long list of racing accomplishments and their work ethic. They've always been a winning team, and we're very pleased to be able to add them to our roster for 2007."

The Capes said they're looking forward to being on the same team as the Andersens in 2007, and they're also pleased to be back working on Dallaras. They have worked with Dallara-built Formula 3 cars in addition to Van Diemen Formula Ford 2000 cars and other chassis.

"We're big fans of Dallaras, and we're very enthusiastic to not only be a part of Andersen Racing, but also to be a part of such an exciting series as the Indy Pro Series," Dominic Cape said.

John Andersen added that the Capes will also act as consultants in Andersen Racing's multi-car Star Mazda and Hankook Tires Formula Ford 2000 programs.

Natives of Manchester, England, the Capes are also co-owners of Formula Motorsports/Primus Racing and Group Four Park in addition to Cape Motorsports. In 2006 they had a top roster of drivers, including Cooper Tires FF2000 champion J.R. Hildebrand, Dane Cameron, Chris Meredith and Adam Pecorari. Their team recorded an amazing 25 victories in 26 events this year, just nine laps shy of an unheard-of perfect season.

Andersen Racing offers a unique, three-tiered approach to groom drivers for careers as IndyCar or Champ Car World Series drivers.
