ARCHIE HAMILTON ON THE PACE AT A DIFFICULT SILVERSTONE

Basingstoke's Archie Hamilton (19), made great progress over a difficult weekend, ending up in the top six in class.

Practice and qualifying didn't see the results that Archie is capable of and after extensive investigations on Saturday evening a split was found in the car's floor which had been affecting the handling and set-up. After repairs were made the car was back on the pace and Archie did his best to recover.

Race one gave Archie the confidence back that he'd lost in his car's ability and in a race with plenty of spins and contact Archie emerged a class position higher than he started. In the second race Archie had a great opening lap, passing four cars with his determination to show that he was back on track. With hot ProAm1 competition there were plenty of rivals that weren't going to hand over valuable points and Archie pushed to no avail to make further progress through the pack of six ProAm1 runners.

Archie Hamilton:

"I can't say I'm pleased with the weekend but at least I showed again that I have the pace. Finding the problem with the car was a relief but frustrating because by then I was facing an uphill struggle. It's hard not being on the podium because that's where I feel I belong."
