TWO SOLID FINSHES FOR ARCHIE HAMILTON

Archie Hamilton (19), from Basingstoke scored two solid finishes today but despite closing the gap to fourth in class to just two points was disappointed with his race results.

Saturday's qualifying didn't go according to plan when traffic and timing hindered Archie's fast laps when his tyres were at their best. The consequence was starting fifth in ProAm1 class, from the grid of 12, for both races.

Race one saw a good start for Archie and he challenged Ahmad Al Harty on the opening lap to gain a valuable class place. Archie was then holding onto Tony Gilham ahead for the first five laps but from that point his car's handling and tyres dropped off and he had to hold his position as best he could. Race two was a similar struggle without the performance that he needed to challenge the cars ahead. Having been pushed wide at the first corner having made up ground he couldn't make any progress through the field and took his points for fifth place leaving him just two points from fourth in the ProAm1 table.

Archie Hamilton:

"After the glory of podiums at Oulton Park and Le Mans in the last two weekends this has been a really disappointing event. I know that it can't always go my way but having got close to a class win I really wanted it to happen today. I'm certainly happy to be getting the points but have to look forward to Snetterton to get back on the podium. It's a track I like so I'll be training hard and working on set-up to get back to where I want to be."

Archie's next event takes place at Snetterton, Norfolk on 7th and 8th August.
