O'Young Confirmed for Shanghai Season Opener

Having twice won the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia championship with former team Jebsen, Hong Kong's Darryl O'Young is set to return to the region's premier sportscar series for the season opener at the 2010 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix next weekend.

Entered by LKM Racing, O'Young is able to take his place amongst the record 23-car field after the Mexican round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (FIA WTCC), in which he is competing this season, was cancelled.

Although a clash of dates with the FIA WTCC means O'Young will not be a Porsche Carrera Cup Asia championship contender this year, his inclusion in the opening rounds, and three other events this season, will add to an already stellar line-up.

O'Young will take to the 5.5km Shanghai International Circuit along with six other Hong Kong racers, including Marchy Lee, competing in the professional Class A category with Red Bull China Racing. Hong Kong drivers Kenneth Lau and Michael Choi (Dyna Ten Motorsport), Morris Ku (Team DAYCRAFT), and Jacky Yeung all make their series debuts in Shanghai, while Mak Hing Tak of OMAK Racing makes a welcome return to the series, also in Class B.

Hong Kong racing teams include Team Jebsen, which is fielding Rodolfo Avila from the neighbouring SAR of Macau, the youngest driver in the field at just 23, Jacob & Co Racing has entered Max Chen of Chinese Taipei for Shanghai, Modena Motorsports with brothers Wayne and John Shen of Vancouver, and OpenRoad Racing with siblings Marcel and Francis Tjia and Christian Chia.

This year sees the largest entry from the Hong Kong SAR since the series' inception at the start of the 2003 season.
