Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East moves into record books

Bahrain's Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa helped take the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East into the record books on its debut at Bahrain International Circuit today.

Shaikh Salman was at the wheel of one of the brand new 2010 model Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars which are making a first appearance anywhere in the world in the new one-make regional motor racing series.

At the same time 16-year-old Saudi Fahad Algosaibi becomes the youngest driver to compete in a Porsche worldwide.

With official practice soon to get under way to be followed by the first qualifying session, later today the official news service for the series will be delivering a full report, results and action photography from this afternoon's opening round of the series.
