Nicolas makes the show !

For his debuts with his new team, the ARAXA Racing, Nicolas Armindo showed that he has the potentiel to fight for the top positions. Qualified in 5th position in Hockenheim, he crosses the line at position 4, after having done the show on the track.

After a first season in German Porsche Carrera Cup, Nicolas changed team during the winter. He is now driving for the competitive ARAXA Racing, best team in 2004. It didn't take long for Nicolas to adapt himself : he set the 2nd best time lap during both free practices sessions on friday, once on a dry track, and once on wet conditions.

He can expect a place in the front row of the grid, but can not do better than a 5th position at the end of the qualifying session.

" It's a shame. We had pro- blems with the tyres pressu- re, and I overdrove a little bit... But I am sure that eve- rything will be resolved for the race, and I think we will be very competitive".

The rain falls down heavily on sunday morning, for this first race of the season. Nicolas takes a good start, and is able to win two positions. He is finally 4th at the end of the first lap, and begins a three-drivers-battle with Mamerow and Lietz, to gain the third position. He overtaks Mamerow in the Stadium, but spins right after that !

" It was quite hot ! I passed him, and I had to accelerate early, they would have passed me again if I didn't. That put me into a spin and I went into the grass, but I could get back on the track in 6th posi- tion. I was motivated to catch them up again, I know I had the potentiel for".

After he takes an position after a retirement in front, Nicolas quickly catches Mamerow, and finally overtakes him at the end of the race. He finishes his first race with ARAXA Racing at position 4. Christian Menzel is the winner.

"I really gave everything I could, explains Nicolas. I really was able to finish on the podium today, the team did an wonderful job all along the week-end. It's good to score some points, and to bring the car back at the end of the race. There are some signs of impact, but that's part of the race ".

Next round : Lausitzring (May, Sunday 1st).
