Hi there everyone,
We had the fourth round of the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup in Perth on the weekend and I was desperate for results after a pre-event test left us in a positive mindset heading into the event.
I finished the first practice session in fourth place but had to sit out the second while we were changing the gearbox in the car. Good as new for qualifying and on a drying track after morning showers, I popped in the third quickest time late in the session to grid up for race one behind Aaron Caratti and David Wall.
Race one ended early after contact from behind at turn one left me with a puncture. With a lot of work to do from the back in race two, I began from pit lane on a once-again drying track and, from 20th position, managed to get up to sixth place at the finish also setting third quickest lap time.
Starting from sixth in the final race, I passed Bryce Washington early and crossed the finish line in fifth place. The entire race was a real battle, with a gaggle of cars from third to ninth all jostling for position.
With the DNF I finished the weekend in ninth overall, and now lead the Michelin Hard Charger standings with 43 grid spots gained over the season to date.
Overall, I'm really happy with how my first trip to Western Australia ended up. I made some real gains both personally and with the car, and while there's still a lot of work to do in becoming established across the ditch, we've taken the first step and take some solid data and knowledge away from Perth in preparation for Sandown.
