Podium Finish for David Wall

David Wall has bounced back in the best possible way after the disappointment of the Bathurst round of the Carrera Cup Australia two weeks ago.

On the streets of Surfers Paradise, David put in an excellent drive to score a podium finish in the first Carrera Cup race at the Nikon Indy 300.

David finished the first practice in 5th place after not running any new tyres in the session.

Qualifying was a good session for David.

The session was ended prematurely when Shaun Juniper was involved in a heavy accident on the pit straight. After clipping two other competitors and the concrete wall Juniper's car flipped and landed on his roof.

David was unable to complete his final flying lap, but still put in a lap good enough to qualify in 4th place.

Race one was one of David's best results recent in recent rounds and he was pleased with the outcome.

"I got a good start and jumped James Moffat off the start," said David after the first race.

"I was pushing hard throughout the race and was on Russell's tail until I made a slight error.

"I hit some water dropped by Rodney Forbes and ran wide; it was enough to allow Russell to pull away.

"I am really happy with a podium finish though and I think we are in a great position for Saturday's race.

"We have a few minor changes to make to the car, but given we are not on track tomorrow I will get to play spectator for a change!"

Race two will be televised live as a part of Seven's Saturday coverage of the Nikon Indy 300.
