DAVID WALL REMAINS ON TOP HEADING INTO THE 6th ROUND OF CARRERA CUP
New South Welshman, David Wall and his team Jim Richards Racing, have got their preparation for the 6th round of Carrera Cup Australia off to the best possible start, with David setting the fastest lap time in the official test day held earlier this week.
David comes into the round off the back of his best ever Carrera Cup round result at Sandown Raceway in June, a round that also saw David score his first race win in the category.
The test session was held at Queensland Raceway where this weekend's Carrera Cup round will be held as the primary support category to the V8 Supercar round. The day started off wet, before drying throughout the afternoon allowing the team to spend time working in both dry and wet conditions.
Commenting after the test, David said the day had given him and the team the opportunity to check out the condition of the track and to work on their car setup, particularly in the variable conditions.
"The track was much greasier on Monday than it has been in previous years. It felt different in the dry conditions as well so spending the day completing around 80 laps of the track before the round starts should really help us this weekend," said David.
"Finishing on top of the time sheets, especially after winning the final race of the last round is a great way to go into the weekend, but I know we still have a lot of work to do. The field is right behind us so there is no room for complacency.
"I am really looking forward to competing at Queensland Raceway. It may look like a simple track, but it is actually very difficult to complete a perfect lap there.
"I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new sponsor, Payce Properties, to Jim Richards Racing; hopefully we can give them an excellent first result this weekend!"
David Wall and the rest of the Carrera Cup Australia field begin the 6th round of the championship this Friday with two practice sessions.
Race 1 will be televised on Network Seven at 3.30pm (check local guides) on Saturday.
Races 2 and 3 will be run on Sunday, completing the round.
