The place has an atmosphere that you can almost taste and before a car even hits the track you can feel it's magic.

Bathurst is an iconic motorsport venue that is admired by drivers across the globe, but only a few will get to experience the thrill of racing there.

This year David Wall has had the chance to race there twice.

None of the importance of this circuit is lost on David who line up this weekend in the Carerra Cup Australia races being run in support of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

"I can't even put into words how much I enjoy racing at Bathurst," said David before he made the journey to the sacred ground.

"It has everything a driver could want from a circuit; fast straights, gutsy corners off-camber and cambered corners.

"To experience a perfect lap around Bathurst is almost as good as a win!"

David raced at Bathurst earlier this year in the 12-hour endurance race where scored the outright pole position and finished on the 3rd in his class.

"I have been doing as much as possible do to get everything in my head before I actually drive the car including watching my in-car footage from 06, and looking at my race notes from 06 and 07.

"I think we have the car to be on the podium this year and I am sure everyone at Jim Richards racing will be doing everything possible to get a result we can all be happy with."

David has not been idyll since the last round of the championship, keeping his eye in at drive days include a special day at Eastern Creek last week.

"I was privileged to have the opportunity of driving the only Cup S in the country. This car is the new car Porsche have put out to compete against all other GT3 spec cars such as Vipers, Lamborghinis and Ferraris.

"It certainly did not disappoint - within my first 5 laps I was already half a second quicker than this year's pole time!

"This car sounds great, looks great and is a pleasure to drive; all I can say is good job Porsche.

"It's now onto Bathurst and the biggest race of the championship -- bring it on!"

The Bathurst round kicks off for Career Cup Australia with practice and qualifying on Thursday.

Race one is set to be held on Friday afternoon.
