WALTER HAYES TROPHY RETURN FOR GEDDIE
Scottish racing driver Glynn Geddie will make a return to the annual Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone this weekend. The Porsche Carrera Cup GB and British GT Championship regular, who made his first Walter Hayes Trophy appearance in 2008, will again be back in the seat of a Formula Ford 1600 to take on some 150 other drivers at Silverstone National in the knock-out formatted meeting.
The annual event, held in honour of its namesake since 2001, has already attracted entries from all walks of motorsport, from newcomers to experienced old hands, and has established itself as one of the leading Formula Ford 1600 competitions in the world.
Last year Geddie finished 2nd in his heat and ran much of the semi-final out front before being forced into the gravel trap at Brooklands, but still made it to the flag to finish 10th. He started the final down in 24th but made his way up to P16 in an action-packed race filled with overtaking, incidents, and close racing.
Apex Tubulars-backed Geddie, who has entered his privately-owned Van Diemen RF92 in both of his previous Walter Hayes Trophy outings, will get behind the wheel of a Ray GRS09 this time around, racing for 2010 Scottish Formula Ford 1600 champions, Graham Brunton Racing, and is looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead.
"The Walter Hayes Trophy is such a great event and I just had to come back for another shot at it this year!
"Last year I did pretty well and made it through to the finals, but this time round I'll be in a later, 2009 car, prepared by a team that really know it and are extremely experienced in Formula Ford racing, so we should be strong."
