D'Agostino records another strong finish for Americans in Festival

Kent, England -- Joe D'Agostino recently competed in the 33rd running of the Formula Ford Festival held at the famous 1.20 mile Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

After using the final rounds of the 2004 UK Formula Ford Championship as a practice and preparation for the Festival, D'Agostino came out of the box strong being among the Top 5 in every test session. The young American had settled into the circuit well and looked forward to qualifying.

For the heat race qualifying the rain came pouring down, a rather normal occurrence in England, leaving difficult conditions for everyone. D'Agostino quickly adapted to the tricky conditions and after missing the first half of the session put in a strong lap, to start 2nd missing pole-position by just over .05 of a second.

In the heat race D'Agostino put in another solid drive, pressuring pole-sitter Sebastian Hohenthal from start to finish. By finishing in 2nd position in the heat race it again gave D'Agostino outside pole, this time for the semi-final. Yet another good start and strong drive behind JLR team-mate Dan Clarke and D'Agostino finished 2nd, giving the American 4th position for the start of the Final.

For the Final D'Agostino made a slight setup change that proved a mistake as during the race D'Agostino could not replicate the same pace shown in both the heat race and semi-final. After a long fight and some defensive driving D'Agostino crossed the line where he started, in 4th position just missing the podium.

"All in all it was a great weekend and a fantastic opportunity that I will never forget. A podium would have been great but there were some pretty experienced guys in front of me and we made a little mistake on the setup. I am really glad that I was able to come back to a place that I struggled with at first and was as quick as anyone. I am looking forward to moving up to the UK Formula Renault Championship for next year, I cannot wait!"

D'Agostino would like to thank Team JLR and all of his sponsors: Arai Helmets, Mockett.com, Skip Barber Racing School, Sparco, The Mayes Group, and all of his personal sponsors.
