BARBER DODGE PRO SERIES - FIRST ROUND QUALIFYING QUOTES
CHRIS MENNINGA (#5 Menninga Electric, third in provisional qualifying) - I'm pretty pleased. I wasn't very happy with the way the end of my session went. I felt like I still needed one more good one, but I wasn't able to get out of traffic and get into the right spot. I was pretty sure I'd be in the top 3 or 4 by the time I saw the checkered flag, but it was pretty tough. I'm sure Derek (Hill) and Rino (Mastronardi) will get their acts back together and get back up there. They weren't that far off to begin with, and Tony (Renna) and Martin (Stenshorne) are going to be tough.
MARTIN STENSHORNE (#34 Zeta, second in provisional qualifying) - I'm really happy. This is my first year, so I'm happy to be in the first three. I'm from Norway, I'm 20 years old, and I've been racing karts all my life.
TONY RENNA (#9 Co-Rookie of the year 1996, provisional polesitter) - It was good, and I'm really happy, but tomorrow's going to be really tough. There are a lot of guys who are really good out there, and it's going to be quicker in the morning in the cool air. But I'm going to be out there too, so I hope it will hold up. Sunday's going to be really close - there's going to be a lot of traffic, and a lot of passing going on, and hopefully Derek and Rino will start as far back as possible. But there are a lot of other guys out there who are just as good, so we'll just get out there and try to run as hard as we can.
